Today’s Architectural spotlight is on a unique structure in Egypt. It is a beautiful modern residence with clean lines, stunning design elements, and much more…
Architecture is art. At its core, it is a creation of the artist or architect. The cool thing is that it’s a work of art that you can live in. The architect’s inspired design and hours of effort bring life to the creator’s imagination.
Some architecture is plain and boring. Some are abstract and flamboyant. Whatever the case is, we all at some point come into contact with architecture on a daily basis. Your home. Your workplace. Place of worship and where you shop- are all architecture.
Stunning residence in Egypt
Architect Fran Silvestre was commissioned to create a one-of-a-kind residence on the beautiful Mediterranean coast in Egypt. The stunning edifice rises over 50 feet from the ground affording 360-degree views of water and desert. Silvestre took the job knowing that it would be a challenging feat. The owner wanted to stretch creativity and test the laws of physics.
The structure’s rendering is flat and rectangular with long clean lines and a flat roof. It is comprised of white concrete which draws stark contrast to the blue sky and sandy beach. The structure seems to defy normal architectural norms since the upper level extends over seemingly unsupported. Silvestre was able to do this by having a massive counterweight that supports the weight of the upper level.

The “counterweight is where most of the living space is. The residence has three levels (including a basement). It boasts 10 bedrooms, two master bedrooms, two kitchens, a spa, fitness rooms, and a beautiful swimming pool. The views take centre stage here. Vistas overlook the Mediterranean Sea, and views of the landscape and surrounding environment make it feel like you are floating above the world.
Ancient History?
Does the structure look like the famous Egyptian Sphinx? The Great Sphinx is located in Giza, Egypt, and is situated next to the Great Pyramids. The Sphinx is believed to have been built during the reign of the Pharaoh Khafre, who ruled Egypt from 2558 to 2532 BC. The Sphinx is carved out of limestone and is 66 feet tall, 240 feet long, and 20 feet wide. It is one of the largest and oldest statues in the world.

Whether you think it resembles the ancient Sphinx or not, the structure is unique, beautiful, and one of one. It is expected to be completed in 2024.
