Check out this stunning Lagos beach house…
Tucked away on a remote secluded beachfront west of Lagos Island, Sencillo Lagos beach house has a minimalist aesthetic, with clean modern lines. Getting to this destination is tricky since it is only accessible by water, which adds to its allure and exclusivity.
From Lagos, you can charter a boat and head out past Tarkwa bay and continue west on the choppy waters of the Atlantic ocean until you reach Ilashe.
The boat will pull up to a small dock slip where you and your guests will disembark. The trek from the boat landing to the house is a bit far, and since you will be dragging your belongings and food provisions with you, be prepared to break a sweat.

Approaching the house you will notice its white façade, reminiscent of a beach house you would see in Miami or Los Angeles – stunning.
There are copper-colored steel screens that adorn the side of the structure paying homage to indigenous Yoruba “Adire” fabric with their distinct pattern. These screens are also functional as they provide privacy and help with glare from the sun.
Large frameless windows also cover the sides and allow for natural light and views of the entire compound. The large pool takes center stage and its striking blue color is in stark contrast to the white environment. There is classic white poolside furniture around for lounging, and there is a lounge area just off the pool with table tennis and snooker tables.

Behind wooden fold-away doors lies a jacuzzi for further enjoyment, and the grounds also boast a large fire-pit with seating and an open grassy area for games.
The interior continues with the minimalist design as polished concrete flooring runs through the entire house, and the restrooms have large concrete vanities. There are three bedrooms in total with ensuite and a narrow balcony that offers nice vistas of the ground and beach in the distance.
The beach is a ways behind the walls of the estate, but there is a quad vehicle that can shuttle people to and from the sand. There are not many stores or restaurants close by so come prepared with food and drinks to keep your party going.

This Lagos beach house is perfect for private parties, wedding receptions, reunions, or just a nice family vacation. It is far enough away from the bustle of the megacity Lagos, but close enough that it is reachable within a couple of hours.
This Lagos beach house was designed by cmDesign Atelier out of Lekki, and is a wonderful example of modern Nigerian architecture that we love to see. Their designs can rival any foreign concepts – anywhere. We just hope that this type of intentional and thoughtful design can influence other Nigerian architects to establish themselves and create more fabulous spaces in the built environment.
Cruising back to Lagos the next morning will make you sigh, as you will have to mentally prepare yourself for the jolting reality of Lagos traffic, noise and chaos, but the memories from the peaceful serenity at Sencillo Lagos beach house will keep you happy and motivated for your return trip
