Another building collapse…

Less than 72 hours after the tragic and deadly school building collapse in Lagos, a structure under construction in Ibadan has fallen.

Fortunately, no one lost their lives and only a few were injured. The victims were escorted to the hospital, and Governor Ajimobi has ordered that they should receive free medical treatment.

This is a small consolation, but we know that the real fix is to strictly enforce building codes, regulations and inspections.

I sincerely hope that this will be the last report on collapsing buildings in Nigeria, but somehow I think we may be revisiting similar stories like this in the near future …
